waiting at the airport

it really does kind of feel like the key to staying alive is just finding something to do until you die. but I also feel like that applies to getting through any "state" i guess. you just have to do something that will prevent you from doing something worse until it fades. Idk, it just always feels sometimes like no matter how plugged in i am, there is always a lil bit of extra me who is still self aware and like wants to do some thing or sit around going "well now what" and idk, most of my problems go away once that part of my brain figures out what to do. Like, idk, i just sort of view all of life as distracting myself while various states start and end, and idk, i guess that means my whole life is waiting. It's kind of like waiting at the airport. Unless something really fucked up happens, the plane is gonna come, and like no one is gonna murder you in an airport terminal prolly, so you just have to figure out something to do in the meantime. I think "the mean time" is my favorite time, but it is the time i understand the least.

Home sweet home...

Whaddup guys. I am back in maryland for now. I would've posted sooner but some shit went down and it was sad shit. It was inevitable shit, but i wish we could've postponed it for a little bit longer. Oh well.

Anyway, I'm back to making music all the time, or at least as much as I can. The funny thing is that I left all my synths and recording stuff at college, so i can only do things that require FL for now. Stuff requiring synths and vocals will have to wait. I do have my guitar though, so maybe you will all get some really weird whatever for christmas.

The thing is that I had a big album planned, because there was a particular thing going on in my life. But that thing went to shit recently. However, I still have a bunch of songs that I made or had started to make that were about/dedicated to that thing that was happening. They are all quality jams, so it would be a waste not to release/finish them, but its a bit weird now, because the planned story arc isn't real anymore. It used to have some real part. Now it's purely imaginary.

Anyway, check the bandcamp for new singles and shit. Also possibly new stuff on the youtube page. Who knows. Only time will tell.

Peace.

How to be a good electronic DJ

I went to a rave sober and it was kinda fun but what bothered me the most was that the music was really dumb. At one point they started playing Die Antwoord and it was so good but then I had to leave. Anyway, for those DJ thats are trying to set themselves apart, here are some simple steps to make an entertaining, intelligent, and danceable set that everyone whose on drugs will like.

1. Change the tempo from time to time. (HAH pun)

You don;t even have to change the actually BPM you can just change it to like half time or change the lenght of the measure to six beats rather then four or something. It's so boring when all the songs are the same tempo. I mean nobody on drugs will mind it but if you really wanna give them a good time you'll make things a little confusing and exciting.

2. Let the groove ride for more then two fucking minutes.

What bothers me the most is when DJs keep switching back into these buildups every five seconds. Once the drop hits, just let the groove ride for a bit. Don't go back to the buildup for a while because it makes the buildup really mundane and not special. Let the groove ride and then change it a little bit. Like add more parts to it. a four on the floor with some sample in triplet playing over it sounds really good and will make the druggies head spins they will be all "WHAT OH MY GOD THATS SO COOL IM SO HIGH" everyone will love it.

3. Don't put too many lights.

You're probably like "what is he talking about? cool lights are the only reason people go to raves at all! lets give the people what they want!" and while you wouldn;t be entirely wrong, its a problem when the place is so bright that all the lights lose their appeal. See, when everything is dark, the pupils dilate and become larger to take in more light. So if everything in the room is really dark except for one crazy light pattern that light pattern is gonna be super bright when everyone looks at it because their pupils will have to adjust between total darkness and super not darkness. The light will be like one million times brighter and all the people on drugs will have fun.

4. play music of different textures.

If there are any group of people that are accepting of new things its people on drugs, and as such it is your job to expand their musical horizons. As much as they think they wanna hear the same dubstep wobble over and over again, they really don't, and the night will be so much more memorable if their are parts where shit changes up (and for those who really do wanna hear the wobble bass over and over again if it goes away for a bit it will make the drops so much more epic). But feel free to really explore different music textures, from distortion to phaser, clicky clacky sounds to deep low bass, really try and change things up. But not too fast. Remember rule 2.

And with that you should be on your way to making the heads of x users everywhere spin faster then their parents can shake theirs in a disapproval. Because at the end of the day, your only trying to freak out high people. And the best way to do that is to make something that would freak out a sober person.

oh yeah and the 5th step is dont play shitty music. But you knew that already.

Look how close the donate button is to your mouse

It is surprisingly close now. Only the most recent post is available to look at and there isn't an archive which is maybe not the best idea thing but I really like the fact that the donate button is so close because now people might actually be able to see it and only when they see it can they click it and give me all of their money.

I had a weird dream. I went to a Dubstep concert and some nerdy kid I know was blowing up a playground. It was kinda lame and underwhelming.

In other dubstep news, my MLP dubstep video has reached nearly 1000 views, with 661 of the views coming from the United states. That is a pretty clear act of god in my opinion, and definitely shows you wear the internet's priorities are. 931 views, it is my most viewed video of all time. Other interesting statistics include that 90 percent of people stop watching the video after the first minute, and the video is most popular with men aged over 65.

Anyway I'm still stuck in the midwest so no new content but you can watch this video of me playing "Big Buck Hunter". It's pretty friggin sexy and I get every bitches. I didn't want to talk loud though because I thought everyone on the boat would look at me weird. But after they saw my impressive Bison hunting skills they did all look at me but instead of laughing at me they said "Look at his powerful erection" and I was like "thank you it is very powerful" and then every girl sucked my dick and I am not lying at all.

Blogging is hard when you can't think of anything to blog about.
